The Moose Lake trailhead begins the same as the Bald Hills Hike.

How to get to Moose Lake in Jasper?

Drive to Maligne Road until the second parking lot. Head along the Yellowhead Highway east from Jasper for a few kilometers. Turn right onto Malinge Road, follow this road for 44km until your reach the very end of the road.

From here, head directly opposite from the boat ramp, and passed the little informational hut.

Soon after passing this hut, you will see a little sign pointing left over a little creek.

This is the trail head for Moose Lake Trail.

How long does the hike around Moose Lake take?

Even if you take your time and enjoy all the sights around the lake, stop for lunch and all that, you’ll be finished this short hike near Jasper in under 2 hours.

It’s a simple trail that is mostly flat and easy to walk around.

There are still some uneven ground sections and tree roots sticking up, so I suggest decent walking/hiking shoes.

Other things to know about Moose Lake in Jasper

You’ll walk through some pretty dense sections of Jasper’s woods and eventually see Moose Lake.

As the name points out, Moose are common in this area. While encountering these majestic animals can be a once in a lifetime experience, be aware they are wild animals and should be treated as such.

Know what to do in case of animal encounters, such as moose and bears.

This a decently trafficked trail near Jasper, with beautiful views that require minimal effort.

The trail is kid friendly and dogs are allowed, but must be leashed at all times.
